How to make a Mojito - the right way
Pronounced Mo-Hito. Or when your friend Mohit is being weird,MOHIT O! Or if you're a boomer,Mo G TOH! Either way, you're about to make something cold, green, and dangerously drinkable.
The Ingredients
Life's too short for a bad mojito. Or a warm one.
The Recipe
Make your simple syrup first.
Equal parts sugar and water, heat until dissolved, let it cool. Don't skip this. Grainy sugar at the bottom of your drink is a personal failure.
Add 10–12 mint leaves to your glass.
Pour about 15ml - 30ml syrup over them and muddle lightly. Read the note below before you do this. We mean it. Adjust syrup volume based on your sweetness preference.
Squeeze in your whole lemon.
All of it. Seeds are optional, we'd fish them out, but that's your business.
Add 60ml rum.
Measure it. You're not a pirate.
Fill with crushed ice.
Proper crushed ice. Not those big square boulders that clink dramatically.
Top with soda. Stir once, gently.
Garnish with a mint sprig. Take a photo. Post it. You've earned it.
⚠️ About the mint, please read this
Do not crush the life out of the mint leaves. You are supposed to simply press them lightly. They're there to trick your brain into thinking it's a minty drink, because you smell the mint when you bring the glass to your mouth. That's it. That's the whole trick. If you shred them, you'll get a bitter, grassy drink and you'll blame the recipe. DON'T BLAME THE RECIPE!
Or, hear us out…
If you still don't want to go through all of this, you can just order our Litchi Lemonade. It's essentially a litchi-flavoured mojito. All the fun, none of the muddling.
